0.22 Carat Diamond
A 0.22 carat diamond measures about 3.9 mm in diameter.
It is identical in size to a a diamond of size 22 points. It weighs exactly 44 milligrams.
In contrast, if you look at a diamond half the size, it measures 3.1 mm across the diameter. A diamond with double its carat weight is larger across the diameter with a value of 4.9 mm.
The result is that the diameter doesn't increase by double when the carat weight doubles, meaning that you're not getting as much extra visual size as you'd think when you go up in carat weight from 0.22 carats.
An explanation for why a 2 carat diamond does not look to have twice as large a diameter as a 1 carat diamond is to do with a relationship between volume and area. One way of thinking about it is to think about people - compare the heights of a 200 pound person with a 100 pound person and there's rarely a factor of two in their height difference (i.e. if one's 6 feet tall the other is rarely as short as 3 feet).
