Carat weight: 1 carat = 200 milligrams = 6.5 mm diameter. Doubling weight doesn't double diameter.
Diamond clarity: FL/IF/VVS/VS = super expensive, near perfect. SI = best value if you can check a photo for obvious inclusions (defects).
Color: D-G = colorless, expensive, only if you have money to burn. H-J = best value. Can go lower in gold metal settings than white metal.
Cut: Better cut ratings let more light into a diamond, making it sparkle more. Very important property, don't skimp here.

To the naked eye, this F color diamond by itself appears completely white and pure - there is no way to detect any color in the diamond utilizing only the human eye without nearby diamonds, or to identify the differences between it and others within the colorless range. Weighing up the $6140 cost for this diamond, put in some thought into whether any of the property qualities are excessive for your needs. Look for a diamond that is "clean" to the naked eye, either by going over the diamond in the flesh, or by checking out an online enlarged photo of the diamond.
